Importing transcripts

New

When importing your podcast from another host, we’ll now bring along your existing transcripts, so long as they use the appropriate <podcast:transcript> tags. We’ll do our best to choose which transcript format works best with Pinecast (if there’s more than one), and convert it if necessary.

We support importing transcripts in the following formats:

  1. VTT
  2. SRT
  3. SBV
  4. HTML (in the format specified by the Podcasting 2.0 standard)
  5. JSON (in the format specified by the Podcasting 2.0 standard)

One important note: we don’t store transcripts as raw text, we keep them in a format that lets us use them for other purposes. If the data we pull in for a transcript isn’t valid (for instance, the transcript includes implausible timestamps that move backward through time), we won’t be able to perform the import.
