Podcast Short Links

I’m excited to announce podcast Short Links!

Short Links are shareable pages that you can use when posting on social media, in emails, and more. They’re an all-in-one place to link listeners to so they can most easily listen to your show. If you have our Starter plan, you already have access to Short Links at no additional cost.

Let’s go through some of the features of the page:

  • Social and SEO optimized tags
  • Links to your show’s website, feed, comment form, and tip jar
  • Suggestions for podcast apps based on your listener’s browser and OS
  • A player for your show’s latest episode
  • Fully responsive mobile-friendly design

Be sure to link Pinecast to your show’s listings on the Distribution tab on your podcast dashboard: we’ll use linked listings to populate our list of apps.

In this first release, we include support for the following apps:

  • Apple Podcasts (linked on the Distribution tab)
  • Breaker
  • Castbox
  • Castro
  • Downcast
  • Google Podcasts
  • Overcast
  • Player.fm
  • Pocket Casts
  • RadioPublic
  • Spotify (linked on the Distribution tab)
  • Stitcher (linked on the Distribution tab)

We’ll also link out to your Podchaser listing if you’ve linked it on the Distribution tab!

Behind the scenes, we’ve got some helpful features. First and foremost, we track full analytics data for visitors and clicks out to apps. This uses the same powerful analytics pipeline that already powers your show’s analytics, filtering bots and spam and deduplicating clicks.

You’ll find the new analytics under the list of analytics views on the Analytics tab on your podcast dashboard.

Analytics list

The following views are available:

  • Total visits: the number of unique folks that visited your short link
  • Visits by browser: the number of folks that visited your short link broken down by the browser they used
  • Visitor locations (available with Pro Analytics): the location of your short link’s visitors
  • Clickthrough breakdown: the number of folks that clicked a podcast app on your short link, broken down by app

Our pipeline includes even more features that we’re not yet exposing—expect an update in the future that provides even more information!

In 2021, we’ll be launching some more exciting Short Link features:

  • Short Links for individual episodes
  • More domain names for your links
  • Podcast website integration
  • Adding custom links
  • An embeddable version
  • More analytics views and tools for managing campaigns

You can find your Short Link URL on your podcast dashboard on the Overview tab, under the “Important links” section.

If you don’t want to use Short Links, you can disable them on the Settings > Short Links tab on your podcast dashboard.
