Social images choose better background colors
Before today, the images used on social media previews chose a background color based on the color palette of the image being shown (podcast cover art or episode artwork). For some folks whose artwork was primarily one color, or whose artwork had a border which occupied a majority of the image, this resulted in the background color matching the primary color of the image, which didn’t look so good.
The algorithm for choosing a background color will now analyze the colors along the border of the artwork. If the color chosen from the color palette is too similar to the most common border color, we’ll choose a secondary color instead.
In our testing, this results in a much better background color for almost all of the (previously less-than-glamorous) social preview images that we tested.
